USA / UK – Last month, UK bus and coach manufacturer, Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL) based in Larbert, Scotland, announced plans to restart production of its Enviro500 double-decker bus range later this year in North America, through build partner Big Rig Manufacturing* of Las Vegas, USA, after a rise in double-decker demand in North America. ADL closed previous production facilities in Indiana and Toronto in 2020. There are over 1,000 Alexander Dennis double-deckers currently in service in North America with many existing customers, having vehicles approaching replacement.

Big Rig Manufacturing will assemble both the diesel Enviro500 and the battery-electric Enviro500EV Charge models. Alexander Dennis engineering and production staff will be moved to the new Nevada facility to support chassis production, assembly and full production of the body. The first buses will be released in 2024.
