Sweden – Scania AB, a subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Södertälje, Sweden, has started producing battery electric trucks for regional haul, the final specifications of which were released on 18 October.
Launched back in June 2022, the new “regional battery electric truck” now boasts a maximum range of 390 kilometres, up from the 350km figure originally advertised by Scania. The truck is offered as a rigid or a tractor unit, with Scania’s ‘R’ or ‘S’ cabs. During pilots carried out with Scandinavian hauliers, Scania demonstrated that the truck can handle a gross train weight of up to 64 tons.
