FranceRenault Trucks SAS, a subsidiary of the Volvo Group based in Saint-Priest, France, has commenced series production of its new battery electric heavy truck ranges, ‘T’ and ‘C’, for regional haulage and construction applications respectively.

The 44-tonne E-Tech T and C trucks will be assembled on the same production line as their diesel-powered counterparts at Bourg-en-Bresse. The electric drive components will be assembled on a separate line in a dedicated “E-Tech Factory”, covering 5,200 square metres. The assembled trucks will be transferred to this area for installation of the electric drive unit, transmission, and batteries. (The batteries will be supplied from parent Volvo’s plant in Ghent, East Flanders, Belgium.) Afterwards, the finished trucks will return to the series production process for testing.
