Blue energy’s LNG-fuelled BE5528 tractor

India – Blue Energy Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd* (Blue Energy Motors) has secured an order from Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) of New Delhi, a multimodal logistics services company for the supply of 100 LNG-powered 55t tractor units from its factory and headquarters in Pune.

The BE5528 4×2 at 55t gvw uses the NEF 6.7 LNG BSVI from Italy’s FPT Industrial in accordance with the agreement signed between the two companies in October 2022. The engine uses multi-point stoichiometric combustion to offer a power output of 280hp and 1000Nm of torque, which is matched with a 9+1R manual gearbox. The chassis is 6.5m long and is fitted with a front parabolic suspension and rear semi-elliptical suspension. The BE5528 truck has a 1000-litre fuel tank, which, Blue Energy Motor claims provides a range of up to 1400 kilometres in a single fill, adding that it is one of the most powerful gas trucks on the Indian market and can be run on both natural gas and biomethane.
