NFI to receive CAD10m government loan to support electric vehicle development and production

Canada / USA – Bus and coach corporation NFI Group Inc of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada has announced that it will receive an interest free loan of up to CAD10m from the federal government to support its development of electric vehicles. 

The agreed loan, which matures on 1 March 2030, matches investments already made by the group since late 2021, together with funds currently earmarked for 2024. In that time, NFI’s subsidiaries have launched five vehicles in North America: the ‘Xcelsior Charge NG’ and ‘Charge FC’ (battery electric and fuel cell) from New Flyer; the ‘D45 CRT Charge’ and ‘D45 CRT LE Charge’ battery electric coach ranges from MCI; and the ‘J4500 Charge’ battery electric coach, also from MCI.
