Cummins to invest USD580m in Rocky Mount Engine Plant
By Bradley Osborne - 26th January 2024
USA – Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana has announced that it will invest USD580m in its Rocky Mount Engine Plant in Whitakers, North Carolina, creating new jobs and upgrading the plant equipment and assembly line for its next-generation engines.
Cummins’ investment will generate around 80 new jobs and add new equipment at the engine plant over an unspecified period. The investment will be supported by tax incentives from the local government of Nash County. It appears that the upgrades at the plant are meant to prepare it for the eventual development of Cummins’ fuel-agnostic engine platform, a series of engines designed to run on fuels such as natural gas and hydrogen and derived from a common base engine.
