Ecuador CV market benefits from strong van and bus+coach segments

Ecuador - Ecuador, one of the smallest South American markets for motor vehicles, virtually stood still in terms of registrations in 2023 v 2022 with an increase of just 0.2% according to data collated and supplied by the Association of Automotive Companies of Ecuador (AEADE) of Quito; registrations of trucks, buses and vans in 2023 totalled 15,657 compared with 15,633 in 2022.

The segments that drove this growth were buses + coaches and vans, which recorded an increase in sales of 45.3% and 18.8%, respectively. 997 buses and coaches were sold, compared with 686, and 4,995 vans, compared with 4,206 in 2022. The truck segment, the largest and most important by volume, was the only one that saw a decline, registrations decreased by 10.0% to 9,665 vehicles compared with 10,741 in the previous period.
