BYD delivers its first batch of electric buses to Mexico City

15m BYD electric-bus delivered in Mexico City

Mexico / China - BYD Co Ltd of Shenzhen, China, has delivered its first batch of 20 electric buses to the Mexico City Metrobús, BYD’s largest single bus order to Mexico thus far. Thirty-five more buses are set to be delivered in Q1 2024. The low-floor 15m electric buses have a range of 200 km on a single charge, thanks to the 300-kWh battery pack, which takes three hours to fully charge. They have space for 130 passengers and will go into operation on Line 4 in Mexico City from Pantitlán and Alameda Oriente to Hidalgo. Up to 120,000 commuters use this route daily. According to BYD, the 55 BYD electric buses will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5,845 tons per year. The monetary value of the deal has not been disclosed.
