USA / Ireland – Last year, Eaton Corporation plc of Dublin, Ireland and Traxen Inc, a tech company based in Plymouth, Michigan, USA, signed an exclusive partnership agreement, which will see Eaton selling, distributing, servicing, and providing installation support for Traxen’s smart-adaptive cruise control system for trucks.

Traxen’s technology, called ‘iQ-Cruise’ or ‘iQ-Pilot’, combines the functionalities of conventional adaptive and predictive cruise control in a single system. The iQ-Cruise uses GPS and high-definition maps to monitor road conditions, gradient, curvature, traffic patterns and weather conditions up to tree miles ahead of the truck and adjust vehicle speed accordingly. In 2022, Traxen engaged United Road Services Inc to produce and test 400 units of the iQ-Cruise; Traxen reports that initial feedback “shows that fuel consumption and emissions reduction can be significant” – as high as 10-15%.
