Allison to supply e-axles for first fully integrated North American electric refuse vehicles

McNeilus Volterra ZSL

USA - Allison Transmission Inc, a gearbox and e-Axle manufacturer based in Indianapolis, Indiana, announced it is set to supply Oshkosh Corporation with electric axles for North America’s first fully integrated electric refuse vehicle built by subsidiary company McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing Inc of Dodge Center, Minnesota. Two eGen Power 100S electric axles will be integrated into each McNeilus Volterra ZSL EV refuse vehicle. The first vehicle deliveries are expected in Q4 2024.

The eGen Power 100S e-Axle integrates a high-speed electric motor and a multi-speed transmission, eliminating the need for additional drive shafts and support structures which allows it to fit easily between the wheels, leaving critical space for battery storage. The 100s boasts a continuous power of 304 hp (227 kW) and a peak output power of 437 hp (326 kW).
