GreenPower unveils new electric school bus (Mega Beast)

Canada / USA – Electric-powered medium and heavy-duty vehicle manufacturer, GreenPower Motor Company Inc, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada has unveiled its new all-electric Type D school bus, the 12.1 metre (40 foot) Mega Beast. Boasting an impressive 482 km (300 miles) range thanks to a 387 kWh battery pack, the company claims, this is the most powerful battery pack in the U.S. electric bus market. The vehicle is in series production at its new facility in Charleston, West Virginia, USA. The school bus can accommodate 90 seated passengers. Given specs include air suspension for a smooth ride and ABS braking.

The company announced the first orders. 35 Mega Beast vehicles are set to be delivered to California with 25 going to the Montebello School District and 10 to the Garden Grove school district in Q2 2024. Funding for these school buses comes from both the California HVIP program and the EPA Clean School Bus Program.
