Rigid truck sales stagnate overall but heavy weight volume segment dips 8.9%

India - Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India was stable in Q3 (October to December) of FY2023-24 falling by a whisker (-0.1%) to register 63,635 units compared with 63,713 units in same quarter of the year 2022-23. Exports, however, of rigid trucks increased by 6.5% to 2,209 units (2,074 units), while production of rigid trucks increased by 4% to 69,302 units in Q3 of FY 2023-24 from 66,637 units in the Q3 of the previous year.
Sales of medium-duty rigid trucks sales (7.5t to 12 tons) increased by 18.1% to register 9,454 units in Q3 of FY 2023-24 from 8,004 units in Q3 of FY 2022-23. Exports improved by 45.2% to over 1,100 units and production increased by 37.3% to more than 12,000 (8,800).
