Bus and coach sales in Q3 of FY 23-24 up by nearly 30% at 10,799 vehicles

India – Domestic sales of buses and coach of 7.5t gvw and above, finished the third quarter (October to December) of the fiscal year 2023-24 up by 28.8% with registrations of 10,799 units; this compares with 8,387 units in Q3 of FY 2022-23. Total bus production increased in the first quarter of FY 2023-24 by 16.8% to 13,100 to meet demand. Total exports decreased by 8.3% in Q3 of FY 2023-24 to record 2,784 units, down from 3,035 units in Q3 FY 2022-23.

Turning to the individual segments, sales of medium-duty buses (ICV: 7.5 tonnes - 12 tonnes) improved by 40.3% to total 5,172 in Q3 this FY from 3,687 units in same quarter the previous year. Production of ICV buses and coaches increased by 16.2% to register 7,144 units (6,148 units), export fell by 17.5% to 664 (805). VECV Eicher led this segment just ahead of Tata.
