India – Tata Motors Ltd of Mumbai, has announced it has received formal certification from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI1) for series manufacturing of its 12m electric bus, the TATA STARBUS 4/12 EV range; the certificate entitles it to be eligible for the necessary government financial support to expand capacity and mass production of the vehicles.

Under this recognition certification, Tata Motors can now claim incentives to enhance and expand production of M3 category3 electric buses. The funding and certification come under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI)2 programme established in 2021 to advance manufacture of zero emission electric buses and hydrogen electric buses.
