Tata Motors delivers 100 Starbus EVs to Assam State Transport Corp

India - Tata Motors Ltd of Mumbai, has now delivered a further 100, Tata Ultra 9-metre electric buses to Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), which are to operate on the roads of Guwahati, Assam. The company claims that it has delivered some 1,500 electric buses to date.

The Tata Ultra Urban 9/9 AC electric bus measures 9m in length and has a wheelbase of 4.92m. It has a permanent magnet alternating current (PMAC) traction motor with continuous output of 145kW (max: 245 kW or 328hp) and continuous torque of 1145 Nm (Max: 3000Nm). The electric motors and inverters are supplied to Tata Motors by its sister company, Taco Prestolite Electric Pvt Ltd, a joint venture of Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd and Prestolite Electric Beijing Ltd of Beijing, China. The battery type is a Li-Ion battery pack, which has a storage capacity of 124kWh, which is expandable, with a charging time of two to 2.5 hours with fast charging. Batteries are source from Tata Motors group subsidiary company, Tata AutoComp GY Batteries Pvt Ltd (branded as Tata Green Batteries), a joint venture of Tata Auto Comp Systems Ltd and GS Yuasa Corporation of Kyoto, Japan.
