Hyla-branded fuel station opens in Alberta as part of initiative to put 5,000 hydrogen vehicles on the road

Opening ceremony at Hyla station in Alberta, Canada

Canada – A hydrogen fuel station for commercial vehicles – operated by Nikola Corporation’s ‘Hyla’ brand – has opened in Canada’s Alberta province, as part of a state-wide initiative to put 5,000 hydrogen vehicles on the road by 2028.

The Hyla fuel station is situated by Blackjacks Roadhouse, a pitstop on Highway 2 in Leduc County, Alberta. The highway links Alberta’s two largest cities, Edmonton and Calgary. The fueller uses a 700-bar pressure-fill system which compresses the hydrogen into smaller volumes and dispenses it into the vehicle tanks. Suncor Energy of Calgary will supply the station with hydrogen.
