New Flyer receives order for up to 460 battery electric buses for Boston

New Flyer's Xcelsior Charge NG bus

USA – New Flyer of America Inc, a subsidiary of the NFI Group based in Crookston, Minnesota, has received an order for up to 460 battery electric buses which will be deployed in the Greater Boston area of Massachusetts.

The contract with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) stipulates a firm order for 80 40-foot ‘Xcelsior Charge NG’ battery electric buses. Of these, 32 will be fitted with another set of doors on the other side of the vehicle, allowing for dual-side boarding. This three-door design is a new offering from New Flyer.
