USANew Flyer of America Inc, a subsidiary of the NFI Group based in Crookston, Minnesota, has received an order for up to 1,300 diesel buses from the New Jersey Transit Corporation, including a firm order for 175 units.

The order for at least 175 buses concerns New Flyer’s ‘Xcelsior’ 40-foot buses, which can be run on “clean” diesel with lower sulphur content. NFI says that the contract follows on from an authorisation by the NJ Transit board in November 2023 to purchase up to 1,300 new buses (including firm orders of 550 units) in order to renew its fleet.
