Small or light duty bus sales in India grew by 9.5% in Q4 of FY23/24

India - Sales of light-duty vehicles (7.5t & below) grew by 9.5% to register 15,370 units in Q4 of FY 2023 (ending March 31, 2024) from 14,037 units in Q4 of FY2022. Production increased by 58.8% from 13,477 units to 21,405 units, and exports increased by 372.2% to 1,459 units from 309 units.

In the minibus segment with seats more than 13 seats (GVW ≤ 5 tons no. of seats including the driver exceeding 13) saw sales decline by 24.7% to register 4,309 units in Q4 of FY 2023, down from 5,722 units in Q4 of FY 2022. Production increased by 31.7% from 3,942 to 5,191 units, while exports rose sharply from 34 to 383 units (up 1026.5%).
