Light truck sales in India fall by 2.9% in FY2023-24

India - Sales of LCV goods carrier (trucks) vehicles (gvw ≤ 7.5t) fell by 2.9% to 542,934 units in FY 2023 (ending March 31, 2024) from 559,150 units in FY 2022. Production of LCV good vehicles decreased by 1.7% to 600,726 units (611,356) and exports decreased by 19.8% from 54,779 units in FY 2022 to 43,960 units in financial year 2023.

The lightest weight segment, GVW ≤ 2t, saw sales decrease by 8.6% to register 176,310 units in FY 2023, down from 192,982 units in FY 2022. Exports decreased by 22.2% to 6,119 (7,861) and production decreased by 10.6% to 180,716 (202,040).
