Malaysia - The Malaysian commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw declined by 16% to 17,189 units in the first quarter of 2024 from strong year-earlier sales of 20,484 units, based on registration data compiled by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).

The commercial vehicle market lost significant momentum in the first quarter despite a pickup in economic activity in the country, with GDP growth accelerating to 4.2% year-on-year compared with 3.0% in the fourth quarter of 2023 – reflecting a moderate improvement in domestic consumption and a sharp rebound in exports.
