Demonstration of the megawatt charger on an MAN eTruck in Plattling, Bavaria
Germany – MAN Truck & Bus SE, a subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Munich, Bavaria, has successfully demonstrated megawatt charging on a heavy truck, giving it a range of around 400 kilometres in just thirty minutes.
The prototype Megawatt Charging System (MCS) charger successfully achieved a rate of over 1,000 kilowatts at 1,500 amps. The test was conducted on MAN’s 40-tonne long distance ‘eTruck’. With megawatt charging en route, a driver could feasibly recharge the truck to near-full capacity while on his statutory break.
