ACT Expo 2024: Wabash presents composite truck body with reduced weight and heat loss

Wabash Eco Nex Technology demonstrator at ACT Expo

USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, held between 20-23 May at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Wabash National Corporation of Lafayette, Indiana presented a proof-of-concept box truck body which is 15% lighter and 25% more thermally efficient than its standard offering.

Dubbed ‘Eco Nex Technology’, the box body on display at the show demonstrated Wabash’s capabilities in bringing down weight and cost in its truck bodies. The box body was mounted on a Rizon truck and was installed with a Thermo King refrigeration unit for temperature-controlled goods transportation. The lightweight box was made chiefly of composite panelling. It has no metal crossbars whatsoever, not only to make it lighter but also because metal is a poor insulator.
