South Korea - Hyundai Motor Company Ltd, headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, announced in June it plans to establish a production hub for hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles at its Jeonju manufacturing site in South Korea.

The manufacturer is looking to take on fast-rising competition from Chinese and European manufacturers in the emerging global market for zero-emission commercial vehicles, including hydrogen-powered trucks and buses. It is looking to leverage its expertise in the hydrogen fuel cell segment, having launched its first hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicle - the Xcient heavy truck - in Switzerland in 2021.
