USAUtility Trailer Manufacturing Company LLC of City of Industry, California has announced that its ‘3000R’ refrigerated trailers are now available with a sensor which alerts the driver if the rear doors are not properly shut.

The sensor comprises of a switch and a magnet. The switch is hidden in the stainless-steel buck plate at the rear of the trailer, while the magnet is integrated in the rear swing or rollup doors. If no contact between the switch and magnet is detected, the sensor activates: it can alert the driver when the vehicle is pulling away from the loading dock, or it can automatically switch off the transport refrigeration unit to avoid wasting energy.
