Germany – At the 2024 IAA Transportation event from September 17 to 22, Continental AG of Hanover, Germany, will showcase a range of new products under the theme "Innovating transportation from road to cloud". This year's focus includes digitalisation, sustainability and autonomous driving technologies for commercial vehicles.

The company will highlight the Tough RuNR air springs which is a new sustainable product from Continental, designed specifically for commercial vehicles to enhance both performance and environmental impact. These air springs are crafted using natural rubber, which replaces the traditional synthetic rubber used in many automotive applications. To improve performance and durability, the natural rubber is combined with ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM). This innovative material composition reduces the carbon footprint of the product by over 50%, while still maintaining the high performance and durability required for heavy-duty applications like commercial transport. These air springs are part of Continental’s larger push toward sustainability, aimed at decreasing the environmental impact of transportation through material-driven innovations​.
