NetherlandsVDL Groep – the diversified manufacturing company and parent of VDL Bus & Coach based in Eindhoven, Netherlands – has announced its intention to acquire “long-term access” to the North American market through distributor ABC Companies following its takeover of the bus and coach business of erstwhile Belgian manufacturer Van Hool.

In a press release announcing its half-year results, VDL Groep stated its intention to “strengthen” its bus and coach subsidiary through North American access and the acquisition of Van Hool’s factory in North Macedonia, where it produced vehicles for the NA market. ABC Companies Inc of Winter Garden, Florida served as the official distributor of Van Hool coaches for many years. VDL Groep has said that it is interested primarily in Van Hool’s coach business (rather than its buses).
