Volvo to deliver 18 battery electric buses with Volgren bodies to Perth

Sweden / AustraliaVolvo Bus Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has delivered its first battery electric bus to Western Australia, as part of a AUD250m joint initiative by state and federal governments to decarbonise public transport in Perth and the surrounding area.

The bus was manufactured at a site in Perth by body builder Volgren Pty Ltd of Dandenong, Victoria on a ‘BZL Electric’ chassis imported from Sweden. Seventeen more will be built and deployed on Perth’s ‘Central Area Transit’ (CAT) routes by the middle of next year. The state government of Western Australia, together with the federal government, is committing AUD125m towards the manufacture of buses on the BZL Electric chassis in Perth.
