Fuso demonstrates part-automated electric refuse collection truck

Fuso's eCanter CollectSensor refuse collection electric truck concept

Japan - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC, brand Fuso, a majority-owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG), headquartered in Kawasaki City in Japan’s Kanagawa prefecture, in August carried out demonstrations of its latest eCanter SensorCollect concept - an all-electric reuse collection truck equipped with SAE Level 2 driving automation functions - as part of a project commissioned by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment on “Creating a Resource Recycling System Using Digital Technology Toward a Decarbonized Society”.

MFTBC first started trials of the new model in November 2023 in Kawasaki City, in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, as part of its ongoing programme to develop trucks that “enable cleaner and more efficient garbage collection”. The company claims the latest generation of the truck combines safety, environmental friendliness and ease of operation.
