Platform Science to acquire transportation telematics business units from Trimble

USA – Platform Science Inc of San Diego, California has entered into an agreement to acquire the global transportation telematics business units of Trimble Transportation Inc, a subsidiary of tech company Trimble Inc based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, with the aim of integrating aspects of Trimble’s connectivity services with its own platform.
Upon closure of the transaction between Platform Science and Trimble, Trimble Transportation customers will gain access to the ‘Virtual Vehicle’ platform, enabling access to real-time vehicle data and third-party applications directly from the onboard telematics. Customers who already use the Virtual Vehicle platform will also have access to the services retained by Trimble Transportation following the transaction.
