Germany– At the 2024 IAA Transportation show in Hanover (September 17-22), Till Oberwörder CEO of Daimler Buses GmbH (owned by Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany), unveiled a new version of its Mercedes-Benz eCitaro, the 10.6-metre eCitaro K. With a passenger capacity of 84, this electric bus is more compact and is designed for tight urban spaces while offering emission-free transportation. Available in two or three-door configurations, the bus retains the features of the standard eCitaro (but is 1.5 metres shorter), including the electric drivetrain and customisable battery configurations, which provide flexibility for various city transit needs.

Like the 12-metre version, the eCitaro K is available with four to six NMC battery packs, each with a capacity of 98 kWh, allowing for a total capacity of up to 588 kWh. With this configuration, the new model is expected to deliver a range of 300 kilometres on a single charge. Charging options include plug-in or pantograph charging. The eCitaro K also inherits its drivetrain from its larger counterparts, featuring the ZF AVE 130 electric portal axle with two motors, each capable of producing a peak output of 125 kW.
