Regional sales in East Asia decline continues in Q2

East Asia - Sales for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw in East Asia’s seven main markets, excluding China, continued to decline in the second quarter of 2024 - by 10% to 277,587 from 309,457 units a year earlier, based on data compiled from numerous industry sources including industry associations and vehicle manufacturers.

The decline in the region’s commercial vehicle market slowed in the second quarter after volumes plunged by over 28% in the first quarter, resulting in a 20% drop in first-half sales to 545,640 units from 682,194 units previously. The largest markets, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia, reported the sharpest declines while two of the smaller markets – Vietnam and the Philippines, continued to expand moderately.
