IAA Transportation 2024: Krone launches new products at the IAA

Germany – German trailer manufacturer, Krone Commercial Vehicles SE (a subsidiary of Bernard Krone Holding GmbH & Co KG) of Werlte, Germany, used the 2024 IAA Transportation event last month in Hanover to showcase its new eTrailer, a significant step in the electrification of freight transport. In partnership with Trailer Dynamics GmbH, the eTrailer is equipped with a new electric axle that helps reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 50%, depending on the application and route. The eAxle recovers braking energy during deceleration and converts it into electricity, which is stored in a battery and can be used to assist the vehicle during acceleration.

This electric support system is designed to work in tandem with a conventional diesel-powered truck, turning the eTrailer into a hybrid solution that enhances the overall efficiency of long-haul transport. This technology not only contributes to sustainability but also reduces operational costs for logistics companies by cutting fuel consumption and minimising CO2 emissions. Krone's eTrailer is a key part of its vision for greener and more sustainable freight transportation, offering a practical solution that can be implemented without the need for a fully electric fleet​
