ZF, Foton expand strategic partnership for ZF Traxon 2 hybrid transmission with SOP from 2026

ZF & Foton strengthen partnership on Traxon Hybrid transmissions

China / Germany – At the IAA Transportation 2024 exhibition in Hanover, Germany, German components manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen AG, announced a second agreement with a Chinese OEM, Beiqi Foton Motor Company Ltd (Foton) of Beijing, China to strengthen its strategic partnership in hybrid transmissions for commercial vehicles.

The two companies already have a joint venture in Jiaxing in China’s Zhejiang province producing ZF’s TraXon automatic transmission and electric drives for commercial vehicles. ZF confirmed that under the new agreement it would further develop the latest version of the hybrid automated manual transmission system, TraXon 2 Hybrid, for heavy-duty trucks while the joint venture will manufacture the hybrid transmission systems.” ZF says the TraXon 2 Hybrid transmission system is scheduled to go into commercial production in China in 2026, initially targeting the Chinese market.
