Germany – At the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover, held from September 17 to 22, 2024, Munich-based retrofitter Keyou* GmbH unveiled two 40-ton trucks equipped with hydrogen combustion engines which they claim will be on the road by 2026. The Volvo semi-trailer truck on display featured a 13-litre hydrogen engine, developed collaboratively with Volvo as part of the HyCET project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV). This vehicle demonstrates Keyou’s ability to integrate hydrogen technology into existing vehicle platforms, aiming to offer extended range and familiar driving characteristics for fleet operators.
To facilitate the adoption of hydrogen technology among fleet operators, Keyou announced its "H2 Mobility as a Service" (H2MaaS) offering. This all-encompassing solution includes the vehicle, comprehensive service and maintenance packages, insurance coverage, and, if necessary, hydrogen fuel supply.
