IAA Transportation 2024: Volvo and Westport present joint venture ‘Cespira’

New name and logo for Westport-Volvo joint venture

Germany – At IAA Transportation 2024, held between 17-22 September in Hanover, Germany, Canadian supplier Westport Fuel Systems and Swedish OEM Volvo Group promoted the new name and logo of their HPDI joint venture, ‘Cespira’.

Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, and with offices in Gothenburg, Sweden and Brescia, Italy, Cespira was formed by the two companies to commercialise Westport’s high-pressure direct injection technology. With HPDI, a conventional combustion engine can run on natural gas or hydrogen. The joint venture agreement, first announced in the summer of 2023, was concluded on 3 June 2024.
