Arriva orders 187 battery electric buses for the Netherlands

Netherlands – British transport operator Arriva plc has placed an order for 187 battery electric buses with Dutch manufacturer VDL Bus & Coach and Polish manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach, to be deployed in the North Brabant province of the Netherlands next year.

VDL will supply up to 157 ‘Citea’ battery electric buses to Arriva starting on 6 July 2025. Fifty-eight of these will be ‘LE-122’ (over 12-metre) models and ninety-nine will be ‘LE-135’ (over 13-metre) models. As for Solaris, it will supply a mixture of conventional and articulated buses, starting on the same date: twenty-six will be ‘Urbino 12 electric’ models and four will be ‘Urbino 18 electric’ artics.
