IAA Transportation 2024: Chereau and idem telematics announce fleet management partnership
By Luke Willetts - 4th November 2024
Germany / France – At this year's IAA Transportation event in Hanover, French refrigerated trailer manufacturer, Jean Chereau S.A.S of Ducey, announced a partnership with fleet management telematics developer for trucks and trailers, idem telematics GmbH (a subsidiary of the BPW Group) to equip all its new SmarTrailer’s with the TC Trailer Gateway enabling real-time vehicle management. This gateway monitors driver behaviour, vehicle location and gathers (and transmits) data from various trailer components such as temperature sensors, brake systems and tyre pressure allowing fleet operators to better monitor the performance of their trailer fleet. Furthermore, maintenance data allows for proactive servicing minimising trailer downtime. All the data is displayed in the telematics cargofleet 3 portal.
Chereau’s SmarTrailer debuted last year at Solutrans in Lyon. The company claims that its new range of refrigerated semi-trailers offers improvements in safety, durability, connectivity and sustainability, with energy savings of 21% when compared to previous generations. This has been achieved by integrating patented design features such as insulated panels. The new refrigeration unit is multi-energy on demand meaning, it can run on diesel, biodiesel, electric, solar or hydrogen. Safety features include safeloading-C anti-slip, Connect Box and KKS automatic hitch. The SmarTrailer offers increased connectivity by allowing the easy transfer of data to any telematics provider chosen by the customer. The SmarTrailer went into series production in Q1 2024.
