Kia targets Japan for launch of new ‘PBV’ electric minibuses and vans

Japan / South Korea - Kia Corporation of Seoul, South Korea (a majority-owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company) in late September announced plans to launch a new range of battery-powered light transportation vehicle in Japan from early 2026, based on its up-coming Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) platform, after it signed a distribution agreement with the automotive division of local trading conglomerate, Sojitz Corporation of Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan.

Kia unveiled a range of highly customizable PBV models and related eco-system during 2024 at various key shows; Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Busan Mobility Show in South Korea and at IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover, Germany.
