BYD delivers 100 electric buses to Uruguay

BYD's Qingdao factory

Uruguay / China – Last month BYD Co Ltd of Shenzhen, China, delivered 100 K9UD 12.2 metre low-floor electric buses to the largest Uruguayan bus operator Cutcsa. With a maximum capacity of 90 passengers, the bus is equipped with a 422 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a range of up to 450 kilometres on a single charge. This delivery aligns with Cutcsa’s long-term goal to fully electrify its fleet by 2040. The buses were delivered in September 2024, further advancing BYD’s presence in Latin America, where it has already established a significant footprint in countries like Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. BYD claim that 5,900 of its electric buses are in operation in 41 cities in 12 Latin American countries. The monetary value of the deal has not been disclosed.
