Tenneco invests in hydrogen combustion R&D in America and Germany

Hydrogen ICE test cell at Tenneco site in Ann Arbor, Michigan

USA / Germany – Automotive components supplier Tenneco Inc of Lake Forest, Illinois, USA has installed two new test cells and opened a dedicated laboratory for the development of hydrogen engine components, in response to what it calls a “soaring demand” for hydrogen combustion in heavy duty applications.

The announcement concerns three locations: two in Germany and one in America. Tenneco says it has installed two new test cells for hydrogen ICE components alongside a preexisting test cell at its facility in Burscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia, and a single new test cell at a site in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Furthermore, the company has opened a new laboratory in Nuremberg, Bavaria for testing “hydrogen materials”.
