Blue Bird JV set to start bus manufacturing in Plattsburgh

Canada / USA – After acquiring its bus assembly plant in Plattsburgh, New York from fellow Canadian bus builder Nova Bus Inc, Micro Bird Inc of Drummondville, Quebec, Canada, (a cutaway van chassis joint venture between Blue Bird and Girardin Minibus) announced that American school bus manufacturer, Blue Bird Corp (NASDAQ ticker: BLBD), based in Macon, Georgia, will start manufacturing on-site in mid-2025. The move marks a USD 30 million investment to produce small and midsize buses, including electric and non-electric models, and aims to double Micro Bird’s production capacity by the end of 2025. The facility is set to undergo expansion starting in Q1 2025 which is supported by a USD 2.5 million grant from the North Country Regional Economic Development Council as well as USD 10 million from the Excelsior Jobs Program tax credit scheme.
