Indonesia - PT TransJakarta, the local government-owned bus operator for Indonesia’s capital city Jakarta, held a ceremony in December to mark the addition of 200 new battery-powered buses to the city’s public transport fleet, with plans to add a further 100 before the end of the year.
The 200 battery-powered buses were delivered to three key members of the TransJakarta public transport consortium, mostly by local bodybuilder VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk PT using chassis produced by several different Chinese manufacturers including BYD. Private operator Damri took delivery of 90 units, including 60 based on Skywell New Energy Automobile Group’s chassis and 30 based on Zhongtong Bus Holding Company’s chassis; while Bianglala Metropolitan procured 90 units based on chassis supplied by Golden Dragon Bus Company. Sinar Jaya acquired the remaining 20 BYD-based buses from local bodybuilders Laksana and Trisakti.
