Eaton unveils Battery Configuration Switch for EV charging flexibility

Eaton BCS

USA / Germany – Designed for both passenger and LCVs, Eaton Corporation of Maumee, Ohio, a power management firm, has unveiled its Battery Configuration Switch (BCS) designed to enhance charging flexibility for electric vehicles (EVs) equipped with 400-volt/800-volt dual string battery packs. Developed in collaboration with German battery management systems electronics manufacturer, Munich Electrification, the BCS enables 800-volt vehicles to charge using 400-volt chargers, thereby expanding the network of accessible charging stations for EV owners. Furthermore, Eaton’s BCS allows the reduction of up to twelve components in the battery disconnect unit, simplifying manufacturing.
