South Korea - Hyundai Motor Company, headquartered in Seoul, announced in early December it had signed an agreement to supply hydrogen fuel cell buses to the South Chungcheong Province government. The provincial government has committed to replacing its fleet of 1,200 diesel-powered buses with hydrogen-powered buses by 2030 as part of its broader initiatives to reduce carbon emissions.

Hyundai said it has agreed to supply its Elec City and Universe hydrogen fuel cell bus and coach models in stages from next year, for use on city and intercity routes, as well as for school and workplace commutes. The automaker also stated that it plans to build six hydrogen commercial vehicle service hubs in the province to ensure smooth operations and maintenance.
