Walmart deploys 150 Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 electric vans

USA – After initially announcing a 5,000 e-van order from BrightDrop Inc (based in Palo Alto, California) in 2022, American multinational retail corporation Walmart, has integrated 150 Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 electric vans into its InHome last mile delivery fleet service in Austin, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Arkansas, Orlando, and the San Francisco Bay area. This is part of Walmart’s goal of operating zero-emission fleets by 2040. The remaining vans are pending delivery due to production delays at General Motors' CAMI Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada. According to Detroit News, production was halted from October 2023 until spring 2024 because of battery module supply issues. Operations then resumed in April 2024, with the plant working to fulfil a backlog of orders.
Last year the BrightDrop Zevo 400 and Zevo 600 models were rebranded as the Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 and 600, respectively. This strategic move aimed to leverage Chevrolet's extensive dealership and service network to enhance sales and accessibility of these electric vans. In 2024, BrightDrop sold a total of 1,529 electric vans in the U.S. which represents a significant increase from the 497 units sold in 2023.
