Germany / USA – After a downturn in wheel demand in Europe, Accuride Wheels Europe & Asia GmbH, a subsidiary of the U.S.-based Accuride Corp, filed for insolvency on February 5, 2025, at the Wuppertal District Court in Germany. The U.S. parent company, Accuride Corp, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2024 and restructured the company. This filing affects its two German plants in Solingen and Ronneburg, but no other international facilities of the group are set to be impacted. The court appointed Dr Jan Markus Plathner from Brinkmann and Partner as the preliminary insolvency administrator.
As aforementioned, a downturn in the European truck wheel market further strained the financial stability of the German subsidiaries, contributing to the insolvency filing. The primary goal during the insolvency proceedings is to satisfy creditors by seeking buyers for the German plants or parts of the business. In the meantime, the company will maintain regular business operations and fulfil its delivery obligations to clients.
