Rocsys to supply hands-free chargers to Maasvlakte 2

Maasvlakte 2 at the Port of Rotterdam

Netherlands – Further to its agreement with Terberg, announced last month, APM Terminals BV has engaged Rocsys BV of Rijswijk, Netherlands to supply autonomous charging systems in the new port known as ‘Maasvlakte 2’.

Hands-free charging systems developed by Rocsys will support a fleet of thirty self-driving terminal tractors, allowing them to recharge without requiring humans to manually connect and disconnect them. The process will be supervised remotely through Rocsys’ monitoring and control platform. Rocsys says the hands-free chargers will reduce workers’ exposure to any risks associated with the process, paving the way for fully autonomous terminal operations.
