Indian bus and coach sales surge 31.2% in April to December of FY 2024-25

India – Bus and coach sales (7.5 tonnes & above) surged by 31.2% in the first three quarters (April-December) of 2024-25, reaching 43,531 units, up from 33,191 units in the same period of Q1-Q3 of FY 2023-24. Total bus production also saw a 17.4% increase, rising from 37,052 units to 43,496 units. However, bus exports (>7.5t GVW) declined by 3.9%, dropping to 7,392 units from 7,691 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
In the individual segments, domestic sales of medium-duty buses (ICV: 7.5 tonnes - 12 tonnes) grew by 23.7%, rising from 18,389 units in the first three quarters of 2023-24 to 22,740 units in the same period of 2024-25. Production increased by 4.3%, reaching 22,355 units from 21,427 units, while exports also saw a 5.1% drop, moving from 2,477 units to 2,350 units.
