GermanySiemens AG, a technology conglomerate based in Munich, Bavaria, has announced that it will restructure its electric vehicle charging business, affecting a total of approximately 450 jobs.

The company stated that the market for electric charging infrastructure is labouring under “strong price pressures” and declining growth potential for low-power chargers. As such, Siemens is shifting its focus to fast-charging infrastructure for depots and en-route charging stations. Moreover, the company will conduct business on a regional rather than a global basis, adapting to different charging standards across the world “in a more targeted manner”. The company is still planning to carve out its charging business, as it announced last September.
